Please don't ask MCA deputy Home Affairs minister to resign ,otherwise there will be no one to distribute citizen certificates !

小明 said...

赞成楼上的,,,他的唯一功能就是颁发公民权。然后在报上又自吹今年马华又争取到几个公民权这样

Wow! What a cosy job! Give me half of his salary and perk and I shall be willing to do the distribution of citizen certificates job all day plus weekend and employ someone to do the night shift so long if there is remaining certificates to be given out.

The above Anonymous how to give you half month salary ? Do you know why MCA could win Kampar in the 2008 election ? Because of UTAR which brought business opportunities to the Kampar people then this people were thankful to MCA than they voted MCA. SO how many UTAR MCA can build in Malaysia ? If I am not wrong MCA lost all the state seats in Kampar.

Sorry, I don't understand what do you by "Because of UTAR which brought business opportunities to the Kampar people then this people were thankful to MCA than they voted MCA." and yet contradict the stmt with MCA lost all the state seats in Kampar?

So people in Kampar support or not supporting MCA? A bit confused!

UTAR has abut 10,000 students in Kampar. This influx of 10,000 students have bring those hawkers and some other business related to education like book stores ,bicicyle shops ( you know some students cycle to attend lectures). What I try to emphasise is that if without UTAR MCA could never win Kampar as all along DAP was strong there . Also Kampar was the only 2 seats won by MCA in Perak. I believe the people there parlaiment they voted for MCA but state they voted for PR . Another point the information I received was from the UTAR students.

Look like another deputy Minister of MCA is now in hot seat, this was due to a 'crazy hero' continuosly open his dirty mouth spits at chinese community and making noise for a chaoes. But his actions just being protected as a special VIP guest by the higher authority, thus the second man just kept silence nor his party leaders dare to exercise so called talk loud in the BN for action aganst the arrogant man.

Not forgetting that the MCA always consider themself as second largest component party in the BN and hence has to be obedience to his big brother when a issue has emerged. They just could not (infact being chanllenge by the crazy man called for boycot votes to his party in coming election) take effective methods and helpless facing such an arrogant man by legal actions, simply because his brother like him so much !
It is therefore to adopt the principal of silence is golden and safe more votes from Malay community as they knowing well chinese will not be thankful for his good services.
As a matter of fact, a game is on play and most likely his leader will stand out to speak on this issue and to please all before oil is added to the fire just because the general election is approaching near.

Thanks for explaining the UTAR issue in Kampar.
Personally, I don't agree with they type of mentality and attitude of showing gratitude to MCA and therefore vote for them. Is it not their job as governing component party to take care of such issue? They should look at longer term with bird's eye view. Anyway, that's my personal view. I will only vote for a party whose performance matches his party manifesto. To me, good irritation, creating good educational environment and studies facilities, improving people's livelihood , upholding law and order & ensuring citizen's constitutional rights etc are parts and parcel of government's duty and for that we give them the mandate to perform these tasks. If they want to retain power, then they have to show us the result which the current one has failed and we have given them enough chance and time to re sit for the examination.

The Kampar example is the classic evidence that in Malaysia, the political problem does not rest with the politicians but with the voters!
The voters have been trained from babies they must vote the party because that party brings prosperity to the place with tax payers money, this has been the whole sale wrong thinking of Malaysian voters. Politicians and political parties are there because they claim they want to SERVE the people on the governance of their country, the democratic system. Voters do not owe any politicians anything when politicians do anything.
Of course, UTAR campus is a big deal to a retired mining town, Kampar, this is true that residence in Kampar may feel grateful for UTAR being there. But we also need to look at Malaysia as a nation, not just Kampar. We are talking about some mad people declaring threats on the racial line in the public for their personal gain and no action taken because he is affiliated to something. And others doing the same had already gone to jail under ISA. We cannot allow this to continue because some people are instigating inter racial hatred in Malaysia. Mr Leng is correct, if MCA has a person as the Deputy Internal Affair Minister and if he has not done anything, then this proves that MCA is ineffective to represent whatever interests it claims to represent. It is not about Bersih or anti Bersih, it is about the mad dog declaring wholesale racial threat ceremonially in the public.
Personally, I think Berseh can do better thing that mass demonstration. Bersih can educate voters, one by one, ten by ten, on the right attitude as voters, not what they have been trained from baby time.
Mass demonstration is the thing of the past to show mass consensus when the information technology was not there to exert mass consensus. There are already sinister counter measures to counter mass demonstrations other than tear gas and water canons. Demonstration cannot solve problem and do not be disillusioned by events in Egypt, that was an entire different situation. And problems can be solved without mass demonstration. The democratic system and process is not built on mass demonstration but on voting by the citizens. So, focus on the required political literacy of the voters. Solve problem at its root.

On the whole I agree with the June 23, 2011 12:28 AM posting by Anonymous.

However, I do think that Bersih 2.0 is indirectly educating the public ie the voters by their demands. I don't think they want to do something like Egypt or Tunisia but just want to show their frustrations of the slowness or reluctance of those responsible party to make necessary changes and to arouse the world to the awareness of the flaws in our democracy, hoping to put some pressure on the EC or the ruling party to improve the system. It can be a peaceful demonstrations if all, inclusive the authority, are discipline, respecting law and order.

You are right, demonstration can be peaceful and Bersih 2 is out there creating citizen awareness about transparency in elections. I missed that point and glad that you brought it up.
We can also ask ourselves, from real statistics, how many mass demonstrations end up being peaceful events. The intention is to have peaceful demonstration, however, since it happens in public arena, there are bounded to be elements to turn it into a non peaceful one. There are also unintended consequence and those in powerful may use this as the justification to arrest targets under ISA and then call for GE13. When I was a young student in MU, we demonstrated for the Baling issue in the campus, it started as peaceful and it turned into an ugly one the moment the first tear canister is fired in the crowd. Tears gas firing is a form of provocation psychologically. I am not against demonstration. The flaws in our democracy is due to the lack of alternative governing entity for 50 years and many of those in charge have become complacent, arrogance and forget the original charter of serving the people and the country. This has to be changed by votes from citizens with the proper education on their rights and obligation to our country as voters. Vote for a better future for Malaysia, not voting for favor done by politicians. Look at how Singapore PAP learned a bitter lesson in the recent GE being arrogance and disconnected from the citizens. Is PKT better than BN, is DAP capable to govern and serve better than the rest? Let the voters decide and face the consequence of their votes. Look at Britain, they do not need to demonstrate, if the governing party does not perform, it is out in the next GE. The same in USA, Germany, Australia,France, Italy. Does it means white man countries can do better than the colored man countries like Thailand,Singapore,Indonesia.......Something does not make sense with this picture. The voters need to know they are the boss and they need to create the opportunity for their choice !
The problem is the voters (the boss), not the politicians (the servants).

Anonymous June 23, 2011 12:43 AM has a good point to say criticizing the public servant who failed in his job and the fringe element throwing out racial slurs are the rights of the citizen. I fully agree with that. On a deeper look, many of the people who are in the above situation are people know no shame(tak malu). Criticism has no effects on the arrogant and on those who are shameless. A mad dog is always a mad dog. A turtle is always a turtle. These people were put there by the voters, directly or indirectly. So, voters have to change that. In the mean time, we criticize also so that they know we are not whimpers.

Anonymous June 23, 2011 7:09 AM,
Again, on the whole I share your thought about "the flaws in our democracy and the voters must make intelligent choices with knowledge of their rights and obligation to the country as voters, vote for a better future for the country and not for favour done by politicians. The voters need to know that they are the boss and they need to create opportunity for their choice."

On the other hand, the elected politicians should also understand and know that they are public servants and they have duties and obligations answerable to the voters, regardless who they are. They are supposed to make intelligent decisions and have the courage and wisdom to influence public policies for the betterment of the people and hence the country. They ought to be strong and competent to know what is good and can knock the civil servants into shape and overcome many of their shortcomings.

Now, as you mentioned the ruling party has governed the nation for decades. As such, they have managed to hijack the voters with the unfair seats allocation to give them the advantage to retain in power. Much as we said the voters need to bear the blame for making wrong choices but with the control of media, postal votes for only certain groups plus the many other hanky panky going on in elections, the smart voters will still be hijacked by this ‘democracy’ system. Therefore, I believe that is what this Bersih 2.0 is demanding, Electoral Reform, is the only solution.

No doubt we are in high tech world and that information can no longer be contained, but don’t forget that there are still many who rely on MSM for information, especially those in rural areas which 1 senator of MCA has proclaimed without shame that these are their strongholds as they are less informed and less intelligent compare to the city folks. With the Bersih rally, the MSM would have no choice but to make it known that there is a rally though they may twist and turn to their likings but at least awareness is created, the rest will be up to the smart voters to go back to the kampongs to enlighten their folks.

Whether demonstration can be held peacefully or not much depends on the professionalism of the enforcement agency and of course, the discipline of the demonstrators. In the West, the police are well trained in their profession in handling this and also they know and will adhere to the principle that they serve the country, not any political party. Their duty is to ensure people, whether those on the street, or those onlookers, are safe and be able to exercise their respective rights, within the boundary of the law.
